The Parent Teacher Organization will again host the middle school's student resource officer for a presentation on "How Social Media Affects Your Child."
The free information session for parents is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday at the school at 70 Quincy Road in Basking Ridge.
The presentation is geared towards parents of fourth through eight grade, but parents of students in any grade and from any school are welcome to attend, said Donna Wilson, co-president of the middle school PTO.
"We have done this in the past but with the speed at which things change with technology, social media, etc., it is important to keep up with it," Wilson said. The presentation is aimed at helping parents keep up with technology to protect their children, according to information from the PTO.
Officer Henry Werner will cover such issues as inappropriate websites where kids communicate with strangers and cyber bullying.
Refreshments will be served, according to the PTO.
Wilson said she doesn't know whether Thursday night's discussion will include the district's new and at the high school.
