Mount Airy Reopened After Saturday's Water Main Break

Break on same road as previous week's, third reported break in two weeks.

Another water main break was reported Saturday morning on Mount Airy Road and Grist Mill Road. The northbound lane of the road reportedly remained closed between Grist Mill and Bullion roads as of about 10:30 p.m. on Saturday.

All back to normal on Sunday morning

However, on Sunday morning, the repair had been completed, the road was reopened and everything was back to normal, said Lt. Mike Shimsky, the township's Emergency Management Coordinator.

A detour had been set up while the work on the water main continued.

Earlier in the day, New Jersey American Water Co. reportedly was at the scene working to repair the damage as of about 11:30 a.m., and continued working into the afternoon.

Two weekends ago, on a Sunday, another water main break had occurred further down Mount Airy Road, on Valley Road in Liberty Corner. That break was repaired the same day, following several hours of work.

Another break reportedly occurred off Kensington Road last Sunday night.
