Bernards Announces Beautification Project with JCP&L

The township and power company will work together on a vegetation management plan at the Lyons substation on Stonehouse Rd.

Mayor Scott Spitzer announced today that Bernards Township will work with Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) to complete its vegetation management work at the Lyons substation on Stonehouse Road.

JCP&L's efforts will include removing trees in poor health and in cooperation with the Township completing work that will improve the appearance of vegetation at the substation.  The work includes plantings to replace those that are being removed and woodchips. The work, to take place over the next several months, will be done without disrupting traffic.

"This is part of my beautification initiative announced in January.  We are pleased that JCP&L responded to my request to assist our enhancement of the Stonehouse Road corridor near the Lyons Substation" Spitzer said in a press release.  "The efforts in vegetation management will help enhance the substation's appearance and are consistent with the Township's Master Plan that was recently adopted by the Planning Board."
