Bernards Health Dept. Holding Male Cancer Screening
Pre-registration started for annual screening to detect male prostate cancer, scheduled for June 1.
The Bernards Township Health Department has begun accepting pre-registrations for the department's annual male cancer screening for early prostate cancer detection, scheduled for Wednesday, June 1.
Screenings in the $30 clinic are scheduled to be held from 5-8 p.m. at the Liberty Corner School at 61 Church Street, in the Liberty Corner section of Bernards Township. (The time was changed from earlier hours in a previous release.) In-person pre-registration for residents of member towns and non-residents, who will be charged $40, is requird at the 262 S. Finley Ave., between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays.
“Early detection of disease and illness allows people the best treatment options and saves lives,” said Township Health Officer Lucy Forgione.

The Male Cancer Screening Clinic includes a PSA Test (Prostate Specific Antigen), an exam by a board certified urologist, a blood pressure check and cancer prevention information. This clinic is for men who are over 40 years old with a family history of prostate cancer, or are between 50 and 70 years old, who do not have a urologist and who have not been screened in two or more years.

Residents of those towns served by the Bernards Township Health Department would pay resident fees. Besides Bernards Township, member towns include Bernardsville, Peapack-Gladstone, Long Hill Township, Chester Borough and Mendham Borough and Township.
