UPDATED: Library, Senior Wellness Center, Closed Monday, Athletic Events Rescheduled

Blizzard causes closures; RHS basketball and ice hockey tournaments postponed until Tuesday.

The will be closed all day on Monday, due to weather conditions. The library on S. Maple Ave. expects to reopen at its usual time Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., said Ruth Lufkin, supervising reference librarian.

The boys varsity ice hockey game against Howell High School, scheduled for Monday afternoon at the Bridgewater Sports Arena, has been postponed until 7:55 p.m. on Tuesday. That holiday tournament game also is scheduled to be held at the arena at 1425 Frontier Road in Bridgewater. Games for Thursday and Friday will be announced.

The first night of the Len Sepanak basketball tournament, scheduled for Monday night, has been put off until Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The tournament, to be held at , is set to continue at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday as well.

The   at 202 Mt. Airy Road in Basking Ridge also will be closed on Monday because of the blizzard, the Somerset County Office on Aging said in a news release early Monday morning. The office also announced that Meals on Wheels deliveries will be suspended for the day. Those expecting deliveries are asked to rely on non-perishable meals sent out earlier in the season, the county said in a news release.

Lufkin said no fines will be charged for materials that are due while the library is closed, Lufkin said. "We hope that all will be safe during the storm and we look forward to welcoming people later in the week," Lufkin wrote in an e-mail.

Other senior centers operated by the Somerset County Office on Aging also will be closed on Monday, including Warrenbrook, Raritan, Quail Brook, Hillsborough, Manville and Montgomery.

The Office on Aging, located at 27 Warren St. in Somerville, will be closed to "walk-ins" Monday for the safety of patrons. Clients needing information and assistance may call 908-704- 6346 or toll free 1-888-747-1122, according to the news release from the county.

Mayor Scott Spitzer confirmed Monday morning that township offices at the  would delay opening until 10 a.m.

The Somerset Hills YMCA had on Sunday announced a delayed opening until 10 a.m. on Monday, but asked members to check online for updates.
