Bernards Twp. Approves $82K For Sidewalk Repairs

Work anticipated to begin soon, but completion may have to wait until spring.

The Township Committee has hired a contractor to repair sidewalks throughout the township, with the intention that the work begin as soon as possible.

The township received only one bid for the advertised job for the sidewalk repairs, Township Administrator Bruce McArthur said on Wednesday.

On Tuesday night, the Township Committee awarded a contract to that bidder, M. Sky Construction Corp. of Lake Hopatcong, for an amount of $82,180.

The repairs are all over town, and no new walks are included, McArthur said.

While it is hoped work will begin immediately, the repairs may not be finished until early spring, he said.

Funds for the project are from the 2011 capital appropriation in the budget, McArthur said, which did not involve borrowing of funds.
