Bramnick Sponsors Summer Photo, Shore Video Contests

Entries due by Sept. 9.

Amateur photographers and filmers are encouraged to enter the Fourth Annual Summer Photo Contest and the Second Annual Jersey Shore Video Contest, both sponsored by State Assemblyman Jon Bramnick (R-District 21.)

Deadline for both contests is Sept. 9.

Bramnick, whose office said he will personally sponsor prizes and honor finalists at a reception in October, says he wants state residents to capture the real beauty of the state as not always portrayed by outsiders, such as the television show "Jersey Shore."

“This is the situation…MTV thinks it captured the Jersey Shore, but we know better. Let’s show them what it’s really like ‘Down the Shore’ on our sandy beaches and fantastic boardwalks,” Assemblyman Bramnick said in announcing the specifics of the contest.

There will be three categories for this year’s photo competition: New Jersey Shore, State Parks and Wildlife. The contest is open to all ages and entries will be accepted until the September 9 deadline. Contestants should submit their work via email to: asmbramnick@njleg.org.

“The contest goes hand in hand with summer fun, and it is a great way to celebrate the beauty of New Jersey," Bramnick said, adding “I’m truly impressed by the talent and creativity shown by all the contestants.”

With three categories, shutterbugs can take their cameras to the boardwalks, beaches, and amusement parks. They can go on the trails at state parks, historic sites or even their own backyards to photograph their favorite critters, according to the assemblyman's announcement.

Photographs will be judged for their quality and creativity. The winners and prizes will be announced in September, Bramnick's office said.

As of the end of this year, a state redistricting plan will take Bernards Township out of its current state assembly district, 16, and group the township with the 21st district, which Bramnick is seeking to represent for another term.

However, Bramnick's office confirmed that his photo and video contest is open to residents from all over New Jersey.

Along with the photo contest, the Assemblyman is sponsoring the Second Annual Jersey Shore video contest to capture the "real" Jersey Shore.

"I was overwhelmed with the beautiful clips submitted by contestants last year, and I am looking forward to once again seeing these great video clips that capture the true essence of life at the Jersey Shore," Bramnick said.

The contest encourages residents to remember to bring a camera to take video next time they hit the beach. Contestants should submit 30-second video clips to asmbramnick@njleg.org.

Those entries also must be submitted by September 9. Bramnick also will sponsor the prizes for those winners and honor video finalists in October, his office said.
