Schools to Receive 27.2 Percent Increase in State Aid

Bernards Township Public Schools earmarked to get $3,057,466 for next school year.

will receive an increase in state funding for the second straight year after seeing aid reduced by 82 percent in 2010.

According to numbers released by the state on Thursday, the school district will receive 3,057,466 for the 2012-13 school year. That is an increase of 654,733 from the $2,402,733 given to the district for this school year. 

The funding figures come two years  that the district had its funding reduced by 82 percent from the prior year.

The aid represents a 27.2 percent increase from this school year's funding. Of the total amount, $2,621,603 is marked as special education aid.

School budgets in both on Monday night, and on Wednesday night for Somerset Hills, with both budget documents including increased state aid figures for next year in both school systems.
