Today, Tuesday, is Election Day

Polls open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Polls will be open for general elections in Bernards Township from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8. Patch will follow progress through the day.

Voters were mailed sample ballots listing their voting district. District voting locations are at the end of this story.

The ballot lists four candidates for two three-year positions on the Township Committee. Democrats Bonnie Diehl and Michael J. Komondy will be listed, along with Republicans Mary Pavlini and John Carpenter, who are both incumbents.

Candidates listed for the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders will include Democrats Wes Ifan and Christian Mastondrea; and Republicans Peter Palmer and Bob Zaborowski, both incumbents.

As of the beginning of 2012, Bernards Township will be shifted from the 16th legislative district to the 21st legislative district.

For state Senator to represent the 21st district, the ballot lists Democrat Paul Swanicke and Republican Thomas H. Kean, Jr., the incumbent.

Listed on the ballot for two state Assembly candidates for the district are Bruce H. Bergen and Norman W. Albert, Democrats; Jon Bramnick and Nancy F. Munoz, Republicans, incumbents; and Darren Young, Libertarian Party.
