GOP Municipal Committee Endorses Township Committee Members Pavlini and Carpenter for Ballot

Two incumbents get official nod for Republican Committee's endorsement.

The Bernards Township Republican Municipal Committee on Monday announced its official endorsement of  incumbents John Carpenter and Mary Pavlini for the party's choice for candidates for the Township Committee.

The Bernards Township Republican Municipal Committee screened prospective candidates on Monday, March 21, before were overwhelmingly endorsed by the voting members, said the announcement. Both previously had announced they would seek re-election to the two three-year seats available on the Township Committee in this November's election.

Bonnie Diehl, a Democrat, also she will seek election to the Township Committee.

However, Township Clerk Denise Szabo on Tuesday said no candidates have filed to be included on the ballot for the June primary election seeking the party nomination. The deadline for filing is 4 p.m. on April 11, she said.

  "We are proud that they are our endorsed candidates and will work tirelessly to ensure that their conservative message is spread and will fight for their re-election,” said John Bayeux, Chairman of the Bernards Township Republican Municipal Committee.

"John and Mary have been diligent public servants for many years.  They have demonstrated a fiscally conservative approach to the governance of our town that is the envy of every other municipality in our state,” Bayeux said in the announcement.
