Memorial Day Brings All Ages to Flagpole in Liberty Corner

Here are some photos of scenes from Monday morning's Memorial Day parade in Liberty Corner.

The sunny weather — bright, but not warm enough to offer the lure of the beach — helped draw a larger than usual crowd to Monday morning's Bernards Township Memorial Day Parade in Liberty Corner.

The parade stepped off from the Liberty Corner Firehouse at 9:30 a.m. and led to the flagpole at the end of Church Street, where speakers talked of the history of the holiday and reminded residents to remember those who gave for their country.

Liberty Corner Fire Chief Marc Friedman reminded the crowd that the idea of Memorial Day was conceived as a way of honoring all soldiers killed in the Civil War.
