Municipal Budget Intro, School Board Coming Up This Week

Bernards Township Committee also due to address Ridge traffic task force report.

It's that time of year again. Taxes, finances and budget season seem to be as much a part of April as daffodils.

This Tuesday, the Bernards Township Committee is due to unveil a $35,140,000 municipal budget for 2013. The previous year's budget was $35,070,746.

Municipal officials have consistently pointed to the stable tax rate as a source of pride for the staff and the current all-Republican Township Committee membership. One challenge this year was absorbing costs from Hurricane Sandy last year.

Also on Tuesday, the agenda for the meeting, scheduled to begin at 8 p.m., includes continuing discussion of the report on the Ridge High School traffic task force, which last month held another public forum for questions and to gather input from residents.

If previous meetings are any indication, the topic likely will come up at Monday's Board of Education meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. at the William Annin Middle School.
