New Mayor, Township Committee Member To Take Office in 2010

Deputy Mayor Scott Spitzer will take over as Mayor on Jan. 4 and Planning Board member Carolyn Gaziano will join the Township Committee

With Mayor Carolyn Kelly stepping down after nine years of service on the Township Committee, Deputy Mayor Scott Spitzer will fill the position of Bernards Township Mayor, according to multiple town officials.

Spitzer will officially be elected by the members of the Township Committee at the annual reorganization meeting on Jan. 4.

Township Committee member John Malay will be elected as Deputy Mayor, according to a town official. Planning Board member Carolyn Gaziano, who won the seat vacated by Kelly in a general election in November of this year, will serve as the newest member of the committee.
