No Pool or Pool Membership? Cool Down At County Pool

Warrenbrook Pool in nearby Warren Township is open to all Somerset County residents.

Can you believe it's heading well into the second half of August and (maybe) you've yet to jump, dive or even taken a little dip in a sparkling blue swimming pool? It's time to head to a country club-like swimming pool that (as long as you live in Somerset County) has your name on the guest list.

Each week, Patch's Great Escape column tell you about one great idea to give you a much deserved break, and make your life a little easier, maybe a whole lot easier.

This week, take a few minutes to dip your toes in the water at Warrenbrook Pool in nearby Warren Township, operated by Somerset County Park Commission.

The pool on Warrenville Road is set on the former estate of Nathan Hofheimer, one of the early stockholders of General Motors, and is the only county-owned swimming pool. 

The site includes a large main pool, with slide, wading pool, picnic area and a refreshment stand.

County residents can purchase seasonal passes, which discount the daily admission rates by half (regularly $10 for adults and $6 for kids on weekdays; $12 and $8 on weekends and holiday), lessons and provide free admission on Wednesday nights after 5 p.m. Daily admissions also are sold.

The pool is open from noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends through Sept. 6. For more information, call 908-754-8404.
