Registration Underway for Twp. Recreation Programs

Registration for pool and winter programs begins this week.

It may be frigid outdoors, but registration has begun this week for the municipal pool along with other recreation programs that begin this month.

The township Department of Parks & Recreation has in January with winter programs, along with memberships for the pool and golf course.

In the meantime, residents can also continue to register for programs in person at the at the municipal building at 1 Collyer Lane, said Jennifer Gander, the department's director.

Those who already are members of the pool, and have recently enrolled in the department's programs, already have been issued online invitations to sign up for the online registration program.

However, any resident or household can request a user name and password at any time, Gander said. However certain documentation may be required for new or inactive households, she said. More information on signing up is online.

Along with returning members, applications for future pool memberships are available online or at the recreation department. Potential members can print the application, and mail in or drop off with the required documentation, Gander said.

The township website offers an online link to pool membership application for the 2012 season.

The waiting time for a Pleasant Valley Pool Membership is shorter than in previous years, according to the recreation department. Those who apply now could be offered a membership for 2012.

Those who apply for a membership will be informed on or about March 1 whether they can join the pool this year, the website said.

Pool membership fees are not increasing for this year. The early payment for a family membership for this year, due by Jan. 27, is $385, according to a township ordinance approved in December. Otherwise, a regular payment of $450 is due by Feb. 24.

The initiation fee for a new family membership is $400. Potential members also are charged an application fee of $25. Two person, single and senior citizen memberships also are available at a lesser cost.

To set up an online account for the township recreation program, go to the Bernards Township website and look for register online on the right of the screen. Enter the username and password sent to your e-mail account. Once users are logged in, they should select “Update Account” listed in the Quick Links menu box. Users may visit “Update Account” at any time to update or change their user name, password, phone numbers, email address and emergency contact information.

Winter 2012 programming and information on membership are listed for online viewing on the township website.
