Republicans Kick Off Bernards, County and State Campaigns

Republicans State Sen. Minority Leader Tom Kean Jr., who represents Bernards, and Somerset County sheriff also attend GOP campaign kickoff.

As may be becoming a tradition in Basking Ridge, Bernards Township Republicans kicked off the season's campaign at the downtown gazebo this past weekend, introducing the party's candidate for Township Council this year, Carol Bianchi, as well as county and state representatives for the GOP.

John Bayeux, chairman of the Bernards Township Republican Municipal Committee, called upon members of the party to elect or re-elect party members at all levels of government, from Gov. Chris Christie, to county and other state representatives and also Bianchi.

Following a screening held on Republican party's choice in the June primary by the township Republican Municipal Committee. Bianchi currently is the Chair of the Planning Board and has also served on the Zoning Board of Adjustment and the Environmental Commission.

For the past several years, she also has been one of the organizers for a citizens group that has called for greater monitoring and the end of fill being brought into Millington Quarry.

A crowd of some 40 or more residents and guests came out to the gazebo on a sunny but chilly morning for an event also attended by whose District 21 now includes Bernards Township, and Somerset County County Sheriff Frank Provenzano.

Both are seeking re-election. This year's GOP slate also will feature Christie, who is seeking re-election, as well as District 21 legislative members Kean, Assembly Minority Leader Jon Bramnick and Assemblywoman Nancy Muñoz. Republican Freeholder Pat Walsh also is running for re-election in Somerset County.

In his remarks, Bayeux said that he considers it a matter of pride that Bernards Township has been key in maintaining Republican candidates in office in past elections. Al Gaburo, chairman of the Somerset County Republican Organization, also attended Saturday's event.

Bianchi asked the crowd to vote for her for Bernards Township Committee in the June 4 primary and November election. Bianchi is seeking a three-year seat being vacated by Republican Scott re-election.

Bianchi asked those in attendance to vote the Republican line at all levels of government. “In doing so you will be voting for fiscal conservative policies, collaborative leadership and proven results for Bernards Township.”

and is seeking election in the June primary election and in November.

Kean, who was among the speakers, spoke of the importance of keeping New Jersey affordable for families who wish to stay within the state.

Bianchi is an attorney and practiced employment law at Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland & Perretti in Morristown, a magna cum laude from Seton Hall Law School a Political Science and English major with a B.A. from Rutgers University, and a Leadership Somerset graduate 2010. She and her husband, Richard, have been residents of Bernards Township since 2001. They have four children in the Bernards Township public schools.
