Star Ledger: Christie Proposes Property Tax Cap

Tax increases would be capped at 2.5 percent if a constitutional amendment were to pass.

Gov. Chris Christie has proposed a number of ways to limit property tax increases, including a 2.5 percent cap, according to a Star Ledger report.

Christie originally proposed the cap during a budget address earlier this year. It would need to be approved as a constitutional amendment. Additionally, he has proposed a cap of 2.5 percent increase on union contract awards and a measure to allow communities to opt out of civil service. Millburn officials have been leading the charge on civil service reform.
