Township's Summer Trip Camp Deadline Extended to July 1

List of day trips in July for students entering grades six through nine.

Bernards Township teens entering grades six through nine are welcome to sign up for this year's summer trip camp to amusement parks, water parks and more, with the deadline extended to July 1 for limited registration, according to the township department of parks and recreation.

Cost is $350 per session, with five trips each session, running through July. All trips are chaperoned and campers will remain with their group assignment during trips. The camper to staff ratio is 8:1.

A minimum of 30 registrants is required, with a maximum of 40. The cost per session covers roundtrip transportation and admission fees to all destinations, which include Great Adventure in Jackson, Branchburg Sports Complex and Branchburg mini-golf, Camelbeach Water Park in Tannersville, Pa., and more.

Session I runs July 5, 7, 11, 13, and 15: Session II runs July 19, 21, 25, 27, and 29, according to the recreation department. 

Departure times and return times of trips will vary. However, campers will meet each morning at 8:30 a.m. in the meeting room at the township's Bernards Township Community Center, 289 S. Maple Ave., Basking Ridge. Board games and a television are available to use. Campers may bring breakfast and relax before we starting the day.

Bus will depart from and return to the community center.

The cost of food, except where indicate, and souvenirs is not included. Campers should bring cash to make these purchases on their own.

Parents should omplete a program registration form and bring it to or mail it to:Bernards Township Recreation Summer Trip Camp, 1 Collyer Lane, Basking Ridge, N.J., 07920. Registration forms and information also are online. No refunds would be issued after June 3, the recreation department said.

Checks are made payable to “Bernards Township.”

Scheduled trips are:

Tues., July 5: Branchburg Sports Complex & Branchburg Mini golf, Branchburg. The bus will leave the Community Center at 9:30 a.m. and return at 3:30 a.m. The day includes two indoor laser tag sessions, plus $5 credit for arcades. Pizza and drinks will be served before the next adventure to play a round of 18-hole miniature golf complete with cascading waterfalls, and beautiful landscapes.

Thurs., July 7: Great Adventure, Jackson. The bus will leave the Community Center at 8:30 a.m.and return at 5:30 p.m. Campers will spend the day at the theme park checking out all the new rides as well as old favorites.

Extra money will be needed to purchase lunch or snacks. Food and beverages cannot be brought into the park.

Mon., July 11: Camelbeach Water Park, Tannersville, Pa. The bus will leave the Community Center at 9 a.m. and return at 5:30 p.m. Numerous slides and large pools are sure to entertain for hours!Bring a change of clothes for the ride home. Extra money will be needed to purchase lunch or snacks. Food and beverages cannot be brought into the park.

Wed., July 13: Dorney Park & Wild Water Kingdom, Allentown, Pa. The bus will leave the Community Center at 8:30 a.m. and return at 6:30 p.m. There are more than 100 other rides, along with Wild Water Kingdom, which houses a myriad of water activities. Bring a change of clothes for the ride home. Food and souvenirs are on your own.

Fri., July 15: Delaware River Tubing, Frenchtown, N.J. The bus will leave the Community Center at 9 a.m. and return at 3 p.m. Campers will spend the afternoon tubing just north of where George Washington historically crossed the river. A barbeque meal will be provided with two hot dogs or a cheeseburger, a large drink, and a candy bar or bag of chips.

Tues., July 19: Somerset Patriots, Bridgewater Township. The bus will leave the Community Center at 10:30 a.m. and return at 2:30 p.m.. The five-time Champions, Somerset Patriots, will be playing the Lancaster Barnstormers which will include a lunch that consists of a hot dog or pizza and a drink.

Thurs., July 21: Medieval Times, Lyndhurst. The bus will leave the Community Center at 10 a.m. and return at 3 p.m. Lunch is included and all attendees will receive a flag and a program. Campers should bring extra money for souvenirs.

Mon., July 25: Dorney Park & Wild Water Kingdom, Allentown, Pa. The bus will leave the Community Center at 8:30 a.m. and return at 6:30 p.m. There are more than 100 other rides, along with Wild Water Kingdom, which houses a myriad of water activities. Bring a change of clothes for the ride home. Food and souvenirs are on your own.

Wed., July 27: Mountain Creek, Vernon. The bus will leave the Community Center at 9 a.m. and return at 5:15 p.m. Mountain Creek Water Park offers a variety of water-based activities for all ages and all swim levels. Extra money will be needed to purchase lunch or snacks. Food and beverages cannot be brought into the park.

Fri., July 29: Great Adventure, Jackson. The bus will leave the Community Center at 8:30 a.m.and return at 5:30 p.m. Campers will spend the day at the theme park checking out all the new rides as well as old favorites.
