Zumba with the Township Committee: Mayor's First Wellness Campaign Event Announced

Township Committee member Carolyn Gaziano will host a free Zumba class, sponsored by the Somerset Hills YMCA on Saturday, Feb. 13.

Residents will soon have a way to preemptively work off those Valentines chocolates this year, with a free Zumba® class with Township Committee member Carolyn Gaziano on Saturday, Feb. 13.

The class, sponsored by the Somerset Hills YMCA and held at their Riverwalk facility, is the first event in Mayor Scott Spitzer's "wellness campaign" for 2010.

The Zumba fitness program is a dance workout that combines aerobics and latin dance music. The class will be held from 11 a.m. to noon and no registration is required.

"I am very proud of the Wellness Campaign kick-off event and pleased that our entire Township Committee will be actively involved.  I thank the Somerset Hills YMCA and its staff for their cooperation in making this event happen.  I urge Bernards Township residents to join Committeewoman Carolyn Gaziano in this innovative and fun way to exercise and improve your health," Spitzer said in a press release.

The mayor said at his first "brown bag lunch" with the township this past Saturday that each member of the Township Committee will host an event as part of the wellness campaign throughout the year. The mayor's event will be a health hike around the newly aquired Sons of Liberty Park in the spring.
