Bernards School Board Vice President to Resign

Audrey Cohen Sherwyn and her family are moving out of town, new board member to be appointed to fill her seat.

Although she was not present at Monday night's meeting, Bernards School Board Member Audrey Cohen Sherwyn submitted a letter to the Board of Education announcing her resignation as of mid-January.

Bernards School Superintendent Nick Markarian read the letter, which stated that Sherwyn, who this year serves as the board's vice president, will be relocating for her husband's job, and leaving Bernards Township.

In the letter, Sherwyn said she is resigning "with regret."

Following the meeting, Markarian said the board will appoint a new board member in January to fulfill Sherwyn's position through 2014.

Sherwyn's term expires at the end of 2015, according to the Bernards Township school district website. Markarian said an election would be held next year for a board member to fill out the final year of her term.
