Bernards Board of Education Meeting on YouTube

Video of Bernards school board's reorganization meeting for 2014 is available online.

After talking about the idea for year, the Bernards Township Board of Education has been piloting ways to share recordings of Board of Education meetings — and one idea is to use YouTube, according to information from School Superintendent Nick Markarian sent to district parents.

The first YouTube video posted online is the board's reorganization meeting on Jan. 6. The YouTube video includes the swearing in of two board members, Elaine Kusel, who is returning for another term, and Christopher Vierck, who is new to the board.

Board Member Michael Byrne, who was absent at the last meeting, is scheduled to be sworn in as soon as soon as possible. The board meets again on Monday night.

Monday's meeting likely to also end up on YouTube

Markarian said on Monday morning that he anticipates the meeting scheduled for Monday night also will end up YouTube sometime this week. He said the school district's staff set up the taping.

Also at the reorganization meeting, Board Member Robin McKeon was elected by her fellow board members as this year's board president, and Elaine Kusel as vice-president.

The YouTube video can be viewed online.
