Bernards Township Schools Closed Again On Tuesday

Schools in Bernardsville due to open two hours late, as of Monday night.

All Bernards Township schools again will be closed on Tuesday due to continued power outages in the township. Power still is out at the Oak Street and Liberty Corner elementary schools in Bernards Township, Schools Superintendent Valerie Goger said in an email on Monday night.

Somerset Hills schools, as of 10 p.m. on Monday, were to open after two hours, but no bus service would be provided to students living in Bernardsville.

The Bernards Township school website said Ridge, Annin and the township's four elementary schools will be closed on Tuesday due to continued power outages and dangerous road conditions.

The website advises that, "Due to the loss of power in many homes associated with the storm, students will not be expected to have homework completed that was assigned over the weekend.

"The weather has caused enough problems; homework should not add to that stress," the Bernards Township website says.

The Somerset Hills School District, with schools in Bernardsville, will be operating on a two-hour delay for Tuesday, according to the Somerset Hills school website.

"As a result of Saturday’s storm many roads are passable by car but not accessible to school buses," the Somerset Hills school website said at about 10 p.m. "Bus transportation cannot be provided to Bernardsville students. Bus transportation will be provided in Bedminster, Far Hills and Peapack-Gladstone. Students who are unable report to school as a result of storm related issues will be excused."
