UPDATED: Bd. of Ed. Meetings Shuffled Again

School to review and possibly award bids for school's own "summer projects" at meeting now scheduled for June 29 at Board of Education office.

Thehas rescheduled a special meeting for 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 29, with an eye toward examining bids received for schools improvements and maintenance projects school officials are hoping to accomplish this summer.

Another meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, June 25, at according to the board office, according to information on the Bernards school district website as of Tuesday afternoon.

The main agenda item will be to acknowledge receipt of maintenance bids on various projects, and potentially award a contract so that the work can begin in July, according to Christina Patton, a secretary for the Board of Education.

When school board members said capital improvement funds were needed for repairs, maintenance projects and the replacement of equipment at the schools throughout the K-12 district.

Board members and the public discussed hiring teachers and former programs cut in previous years, but Board Member William Koch said during those discussions that about $14 million worth of capital facilities projects must be addressed over the next several years. He said he was reluctant to tap into a $1 million maintenance fund set up to start those projects, and to use the money for other purposes.
