IN SHORT

Montgomery, out of the gate with a better season record, broke the ice two minutes into the game with a quick shot by Montgomery's Josh Reinson. But the Ridge midfielder wearing the same number 9, Jason Mertz, would even it up just two minutes later. Both players would score the next goals for their teams and Kevin Kelly would add a third goal for Ridge to round out the opening period. The game would be an evenly matched affair until the 6:50 mark of the fourth period, when Mertz would score to break the 8-8 tie and follow it up with another at 4:38. The Ridge defense held and ran out the clock to end to game.

THEY SAID IT

"It was a great game. I enjoyed this" — Ridge head coach Ken Marsh

"This is one of those games that went goal-for-goal until the end when we made a couple of plays to get a 2 goal cushion at the end of the game.  A lot of credit to Montgomery for playing hard and for our kids for finding a way to get it done." - Ridge Athletic Director Richard Shello
