Mike Tannenbaum to Speak at Ridge 'Potential Careers' Club

Students from other area high schools also able to attend after-school discussion.

Mike Tannenbaum, former general manager of the New York Jets and current president of Priority Sports Coaching, Front Office and Broadcasting, will be the guest speaker at Ridge High School's Potential Careers club, at 3 p.m. next Monday, June 10.

Students from nearby schools may attend, and no previous sign-up is necessary. Tannenbaum will speak at the school's Performing Arts Center, Lecture Hall A, at the school at 268 S. Finley Ave., according to club officer Daniele Colbertaldo.

Tannenbaum, a Basking Ridge resident, also has continued his involvement with the Somerset Hills YMCA as part of the community. He was hired in April for his new position, which reportedly involves representing and overseeing contract negotiations for basketball and football coaches for both professional and college sports.

Potential Careers, or POC, at Ridge, is a a student-run club that assists students with career choices after high school, according to Colbertaldo, a junior.

The club invite professionals to come to the meetings and speak to members about their work experience and career choice. Past speakers have been Scott Paladini, owner of Hibernate Bedding in Bernardsville, Barbara Thomas from Morgan Stanley and Kevin Finn from Earthcolor, Colbertaldo said.

Club student officers include Colbertaldo, Charlie Hill, Lucy Aaron, and Alex Weyrauch, with Scott Thompson, Ridge assistant vice principal, serving as club adviser.
