The school board elections will be held Tuesday, April 20--for voters who are registered before the end of the month.

You don't have to wait for November—election day is just around the corner.

Deadlines are fast approaching to register to vote in the school board elections on April 20 if you're not yet registered. The deadline to register to vote is 21 days prior to election day, which for this election would be March 30.

To register to vote, mail or deliver the Voter Registration Application to the Commissioner of Registration, Anthony J. DeCicco, 20 Grove Street, P.O. Box 3000, Somerville, NJ 08876-1262.

On Tuesday, April 20, residents in Bernards Township School District will vote for the budget and board of education members for 2010-2011.

Voters will vote among four candidates for three, 3-year terms that are open this election. They will be listed on the ballot in the following order:

  • William Koch, incumbent
  • Elaine S. Kusel, new filing
  • Michael J. Byrne, incumbent
  • Louis Carlucci, incumbent

One candidate is on the ballot for the unexpired, two-year term up for election. Audrey Cohen Sherwyn, who served a one-year term this year, is running.

Voters will also vote on whether they approve or disapprove of the budget.

The polls will be open April 20 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Polling places will be:

  • Basking Ridge Firehouse - Districts 2, 4 and 7
  • Liberty Corner Firehouse - Districts 12 and 14
  • Fellowship Village - Districts 16 and 20
  • Hills Recreation Center - Districts 21, 22, 23 and 24
  • Bernards Township Community Center - Districts 9, 10 and 17
  • Ridge Oak Senior Housing - District 3
  • Bernards Township Library - Districts 1 and 6
  • Society Hill at Bernards II Clubhouse - Districts 13 and 18
  • Somerset Hills Lutheran Church - Districts 5 and 8
  • Spring Ridge Clubhouse - Districts 11, 15 and 19

Visit this website to find the district and polling place location for your residence. There you can type in your address to see your polling place and directions.

The County Clerk suggests always bringing identification to your polling place when you vote to aid the process.
