UPDATE: Ridge Boys Hoops Win on MSG Varsity

Boys and girls both take on rival Immaculata on Tuesday.

Dylan and Jack Kerwin combined for 26 points to help lead the Ridge boys basketball team to a 54-37 win over Immaculata on Tuesday in Basking Ridge.

The winning match is being aired on MSG Varsity television, channel 14 on Cablevision, is being shown for the first time at 4 p.m. on Thursday.

It will be re-aired at 2 p.m. on Friday, at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, and at 7 a.m. on Sunday.

Ridge jumped out to an early 1-point lead on Tuesday night and never looked back on its way to its fifth win of the season.

Dillon Mahon and Matthew Gerrity each netted eight points and Brett Matzen added five points for Ridge (5-2).

James Smith finished with 12 points for Immaculata (4-3).

Girls Battle, Come up Short

Vicky Beneventine’s 15-point performance was overshadowed when the Ridge girls basktball team was outscored 12-4 in the third quarter, leading to a 41-40 loss to Immaculata Tuesday in Somerville.

Ridge headed into halftime with a one-point lead but fell behind in the third frame as Immaculata surged to a seven-point advantage behind a combined 22 points from Kat Papalski and Kylie Blanck.

Ridge stepped up in the fourth quarter, outscoring its opponent 13-6 and threatening to take a late lead. But a Papalski layup with less than eight seconds remaining sealed the win for Immaculata, improving its mark to 4-3 this season.

Ridge fell to 1-6 with the loss.
