After celebrating the seven seniors on the team, Ridge came out strong, scoring 22 points in the first quarter, all from the senior starters. The second quarter, Ridge gave a little ground, allowing Bernards to put up 16 points, including five points from Duncan Salek and Ryan Zeccola. But the third quarter would go to Ridge on two 3-pointers from Dylan Kerwin, five points from Jack Kerwin and Eric Kalcik, and four from Dillon Mahon.

In the fourth quarter, the Ridge bench got some playing time and Hugh Morris scored two and Ross Lazicky added a 3-pointer. Bernards attempted a rally, getting a free throw and a pair of 3-point shots from both Doug Demairais and Jack Riordan to close out the game.

Dillon Mahon - Mahon was solid at the point and added 11 points to the Ridge scoring.

The Seniors - Coach Brian Feath felt the seniors performed as a cohesive unit, leading to the win: Eric Klacik (Ridge)- Klacik canned three 3-point baskets and a two pointer for 11 points on the evening; Doug Demarrais (Bernards) - Doug Demarrais led all scorers with 15 points including three 3-pointers.

"Ridge is a very good team. They're faster, they're quicker, they're better shooters than us. We have to play close to perfect to compete with them and hope they miss some shots. That didn't happen tonight. We made it respectable towards the end. Hopefully our kids can learn from it with the state tournament coming, that the level of intensity gets picked up from the start. And they have to get a little bigger, stronger and better." - Bernards head coach Brad Greenman

"Nice way for the seniors to go out. We got out to a great start offensively and defensively. We let our guard down a little in the second period, but picked it back up and had a good second half. We are looking for a state tournament run next week. We were looking to play better and play hard tonight." - Ridge coach Brian Feath

UP NEXT - Bernards will play in the first round of the North 2, Group III NJSIAA tournament at Hanover Park on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Ridge will be playing in the North 2, Group IV NJSIAA tournament at Ridge Tuesday against Hunterdon Central at 7 p.m.
