The Lady Devils opened their 2011 season against perennial powerhouse Bridgewater. Nevertheless, the Panthers were held scoreless for the first 15 minutes on the strength of the Ridge defense and the fine play of ridge goalie Marissa Taddeo.

LADY DEVIL OF THE GAME

Marissa Taddeo, Goalie (Soph.) - Taddeo was outstanding in the goal for Ridge stopping shot after shot from the high-powered Bridgewater-Raritan offense.

"She was outstanding.  All the hard work she has put in during the offseason showed today." - Coach Kim Clark

"Their goalie was excellent." Bridgewater head coach Kathie DeBonis

OTHER KEY PERFOMANCES

Madison Fischl (Ridge) was huge for Ridge in the backfield doing everything shoe could to put the team on attack; Rachel Yaney (BRHS) scored 2 goals and had an assist to lead Bridgewater's 5 different scorers.

COACH'S TAKE

"They always play hard. I could not ask for anything more than that.  Our motto this year is to 'work hard.' They never give up. In the very last second of the game we were fighting for a ball out of bounds.  Bridgewater is one of the best teams we are going to face this season. It is always hard to start that way, and I don't want them to be discouraged. We need to take the lessons we learned and use them as a tool for better outcomes as the season goes on." - Coach Kim Clark

THEY SAID IT

"I lost count of the shots on goal. Everyone on the team has been working really hard; unfortunately the score didn't reflect it. We did our best and that is what matters." - Marissa Taddeo
