IN SHORT

Ridge did not look like the underdog in Friday's game when they faced the No. 16 team in N.J. as ranked by the Star-Ledger. Rob Mullaney returned to action, pounding the ball inside for a touchdown to open up the scoring at the 8:21 mark of the first quarter. Just two plays and 21 seconds later, Hunterdon Central scored on a pass play, tying the score at 7. It was Conor Hughes who drew next blood on a quarterback keeper from the 1-foot line that brought Ridge to a 14-7 lead that would stand up through the end of the quarter. But the Hunterdon Central Red Devils were not to be denied, scoring six more touchdowns in the last three quarters. Ridge did muster a safety in the third.

THEY SAID IT

"It was a good game.  The score does not really indicate how close of a game it really was. I am really proud of our kids to come up against a really good team like that and do such a great job. A couple things here and there and we are going right down to the wire. It just didn't happen to work out tonight. They have a really good team, but I think we do, too. We are going to keep working hard. They are an amazing group of guys and I know they are going to come into next week ready to play. We will break through real soon." — Ridge head coach Bill Tracy
