Ridge to Host Free Sports Performance Program

The Ridge High School Booster Club is scheduled to present an educational program on sports performance development and enhancement at 7 p.m. next Thursday, Nov. 17, in the main gymnasium at on South Finley Avenue.
Ridge High and student-athletes, coaches, and parents are invited and encouraged to attend the free event, according to an announcement forwarded by Richard Shello, athletic director at the high school. The community-funded Ridge Booster Club provides funding to support programs for the athletic community.
The program will be offered by the sports performance staff of TEST Sports Clubs in Martinsville, according to the announcement.

No advance registration is needed, Shello said. He said similar projects have been offered before for student athletes.
The information scheduled to be presented will focus on the application of training principles in the development and improvement of sport performance among male and female athletes between 12 to 18 years of age. Topics to be presented will include the following areas of sports performance training:

- Nutritional Needs for today’s athletes
- Development of speed and power through proper training methods
- Injury prevention and important tips for the female athlete
- Proven successful models of sports training of high school teams, according to TEST
