Third Vice Principal Hired for Annin Middle School

Eighth-grade social studies teacher promoted at grade 6-8 school.

Continuing a trend of mostly hiring from within, the Bernards Township Board of Education on Monday promoted Adam Torrisi, a teacher of eighth-grade Social Studies at the to be the school's third vice principal.

Torrisi said he joined the school's staff in spring 2010. He previously had been employed by the West Essex Middle School in North Caldwell.

Schools Superintendent Nick Markarian said that the grades 6 to 8 school previously had three vice principals but the position was cut due to past budget cuts.

Now, he said, new state evaluation regulations that kick in next fall will increase the administration's responsibility for evaluating staff members by about 25 percent.

Torrisi will be paid $75,000 per year, Markarian said.
