WAMS Car Wash Raises Money For School Athletics

Athletic Organization thanks those who participated and the public for successful fundraiser.

William Annin Middle School students and their parents, who washed, rinsed and dried an endless line of cars at an annual fundraiser, raised $3,400 to help defray the cost of pay-to-play sports at the middle school, and had fun while learning the value of hard work, the fundraiser's organizer said.

"Congratulations to all those students and parents who came out to help," said Dana Hughes, a parent in charge of the fundraising event for the William Annin Middle School Athletic Organization. Thirteen athletics teams sent volunteers to the car wash, with more than 100 student athletes helping out throughout the day.

The amount raised at the annual fundraiser, held last Saturday, was a record-breaker for the organization, she said.

The entire WAMS Athletic Organization board wants to give a tremendous thanks to those who supported the WAMS-AO carwash in many ways, she said.

"I was very impressed with the enthusiasm and work ethic of the students," Hughes said. "They all made the commitment to come out and work with their teammates toward a common goal. I'm so proud of them! I'd like to thank all the parent and coach helpers as well."

The funds raised will go directly into next year's budget to help to defray the costs of all team sports at the high school, Hughes said.
