Bernards High QB on Tri-State 'QB' Showdown on TV

Mountaineers QB Devin Ray to compete on new MSG Varsity program on Tuesday night.

Bernards High School quarterback Devin Ray will be featured in MSG Varsity's first ever tri-state quarterback showdown to premiere at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday night on Cablevision's Optimum TV Channel 14, MSG Varsity said. 

MSG Varsity, Cablevision’s 24/7 network for all aspects of high school achievements, will premiere its "Tri-State Quarterback Showdown" featuring who are considered among the top 24 high school quarterbacks chosen from throughout the New York tri-state area, according to MSG Varsity.

The QBs are competing for the “Showdown Champion” title through various challenges and obstacles testing their speed, strength, accuracy.  New York Giants veterans Phil Simms and Amani Toomer serve as judges for the event and will provide commentary throughout the show, according to MSG Varsity.

Ray played varsity football as a junior last year for the Bernards Mountaineers, in the lineup as both quarterback and linebacker, according to his stats on MaxPreps.com. A profile of the Bedminster athlete, and a video of him on the field, is on the NCSA recruiting website.

“It was an honor to be a judge at the first ever Tri-State Quarterback showdown,” said New York Giants veteran Phil Simms. “I was really impressed by these student athletes and I enjoyed getting to talk to each of them and help them with their game. The tri-state has a great line-up of talent and I look forward to catching some of the games this fall on MSG Varsity.”

 “At MSG Varsity we are always looking for new ways to showcase high school athletes,” Said Michael Lardner, Senior Vice President and Executive Producer, MSG Varsity. “By creating the first-ever Tri-State Quarterback Showdown and bringing in former NFL greats, we are providing another platform for these athletes to excel.”
