Four Home Runs Power Ridge Little League Sectional Win
Ridge Little League 12-year-olds beat Jefferson in first NJ sectional game.
The Ridge Little League 12 year old baseball team continued their undefeated run beating Jefferson 12-2 in the first game of the NJ State Sectional tournament. Ridge lead the game from the first inning and throughout the game, and wrapped up the team's victory in four innings.
IN SHORT
Ridge came out on the diamond to start the game by scoring three runs and sending up seven batters in the first inning. The Jefferson team scored on a home run to make the score 3-1. But the Devils came out strong in the second inning and scored seven runs to bring their lead to 10-1.

Jefferson followed up with another home run of their own, but that was the last of the team's of scoring efforts. Ridge gained home runs in the third from Matt Rusiniak and Aiden Murphy in fourth innings. With the score 12-2, Ridge closed out the fourth inning defensively with a double play. The game was then ruled complete by virtue of the "mercy rule" because of Ridge's ten-run lead.

The Devils hit four home runs in a powerful performance. Matt Rusiniak lead the team going 4-for-4 with a home run. Jack Mahala went 3-for-3 hitting all singles. Nick Egnatuk, Aiden Murphy and Kevin Walker each hit home runs in the game.
ON THE MOUND
Jack Mahala started the game for Ridge. Mahala gave up only three hits including two home runs, and also had two strike outs. He gave up only one walk in two innings. Pitchers Owen Haiback and Tyler Starr came in to finish the game.

The team faces West Milford in Wayne for another state sectional game at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
