Golf Greats Expected at Monday Fundraiser For Boys & Girls Clubs

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Newark is offering a chance to win two free passes to spend the day with some of golf's legendary players at a fundraiser on Monday, June 6, at the Somerset Hills Country at 180 Mine Mount Road in Bernardsville.

Merrie Snead, a spokeswoman for the Boys & Girls Clubs announced a chance to win gallery passes for the daylong event, to begin at 9 a.m. Along with lunch and awards presentation, the day will include an up close and personal view of the golf techniques of a number of golfing greats, such as 2011 Masters Tournament Champion Charl Schwartzel, 2010 British Open Champion Louis Oosthuizen, the legendary Fuzzy Zoeller and 2010 LGPA Champion Cristie Kerr.

"They’re bringing their game here to help raise funds for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Newark (BGCN) and BGCN’s LifeCamp in Pottersville — a summer day camp which provides a spirit-enriching summer experience and academic, artistic and athletic activities outside of the city to over 800 inner city children," Snead said.

The pros will begin playing 18 holes at 9 a.m., with a break for lunch, according to the day's schedule of events. In addition to close proximity to the pros, gallery pass holders also will enjoy lunch at the clubhouse and an awards presentation and reception at 3:30 pm.
