Ridge 13U Baseball Championship, Swim Team Meet & Free Movie Today

Swim team also in competition tonight, movie at Harry Dunham Park.

Game by game, the Basking Ridge 13U baseball has been winning and advancing in playoffs and then, starting last weekend, in rounds of the state Babe Ruth Tournament. On Wednesday night, the team plays in the championship game for Northern NJ in the Babe Ruth Tournament.

Ridge 13U baseball beat Millburn 3 to 1 on Tuesday night in the Northern New Jersey semi-final game. Ridge now advances to the championship game, starting at 7:30 p.m. at South Orange’s Cameron Field, according to the team.

The 13U team had reached Tuesday night's game in the state Babe Ruth Tournament on Tuesday after winning the first rounds of the tournament last weekend.

As of Tuesday night, the team was yet unaware of which town it would be playing on Wednesday.

The baseball players won't be the only team competing on Wednesday. 

With 154 swimmers, this Pleasant Valley Pool swim team, the Piranhas, now 4 wins, two losses, heads to its last scheduled home meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Valley Pool off Valley Road, according to information from the team parents.

That is the last individual team competition. Then, this coming weekend, the different age categories, that will bring together hundreds of swimmers from multiple teams, will top off the swim team season with the "Meet of Champions," split over this Saturday and Sunday.

This Wednesday's free outdoors movie at Harry Dunham Park, located off Somerville and Liberty Corner Roads at the edge of Liberty Corner Village, is "Wreck-it Ralph," rated PG.

The movie is scheduled to begin between 8:15 to 8:30 p.m., when it's dark enough. Movie-goers are asked to bring their own blankets or lawn chairs. 

In case of rain, the movie will be rescheduled for the following night.
