Ridge 15/16U Baseball Advances to Championship
Giarraputo and Farkas home runs lead 18-hit attack against Montville on Tuesday night.
The Basking Ridge 15/16U baseball team won its semifinal playoff game Tuesday night as the team pounded out 18 hits to beat Montville 16-3. The game was played in Mountain Park in Basking Ridge. The team plays in the West Division of the New Providence Green League, a league composed of 15-16 year olds who do not play for their high school teams.
The win moves the Ridge team — already the League's Western Division champs — into a final game on Thursday against Clark, the league's Eastern Division champions, to see who will be champion in their age category for the entire New Providence Green League.

IN SHORT
The first three Basking Ridge batters reached base with a double and 2 singles as the Ridge team scored three in the first inning and never looked back. The Ridge batters continued to pound the ball
scoring four in the second with Nick Farkas capping off the scoring in the second with a long home run.
Starting pitcher Alex Chase, after giving up a run in the first settled down to hold Montville scoreless in the second and third until tiring a bit in the fourth. Connor Williams came in in relief in the fifth retiring all three batters he faced.
In the bottom of the fifth leading by eleven Basking Ridge needed one run to end the game. Justin Giarraputo ended the game in style with a 2-run home run capping off a 3-for-3 night.

Up Next — At Clark: 6 p.m. on Thursday in the league finals. The league covers a large chunk of northern and central New Jersey.
Another Tournament: Sarnie said the team also faces a final game at 5:45 p.m. on Friday in Rahway. The tournament is called the "Battle of Spanktown," harking back to Rahway's original name in pre-Revolutionary days.
