Ridge (and Somerset Bulldogs) Alumni Reunite on Rutgers Football Field

Back together, and not for the first time: Ridge football stars reunite on the field wearing Rutgers uniforms.

This isn't the first time they've worn the same uniform, or played under the same coach.

Anthony Milito and Joey Roth, who collectively racked up plenty of points for the Ridge Red Devils varsity football team while senior captains in fall 2010, this season will be playing under the banner of the Rutgers University Scarlet Knights football team.

Milito, who is in his third year at Rutgers, was joined at media day for the team last Saturday by his former teammate, Joey Roth, who has transferred to Rutgers from another school.

The both Ridge alumni were joined by their moms — Katie Milito and Joanne Roth — who provided plenty of support, too, when their sons were based at Lee Field at Ridge.

As stars on the Red Devils, Milito played multiple positions and Roth was a punter — and one with enough talent to have earned him a walk-on assignment as a punter for Rutgers this fall. Milito will be a linebacker.

The college players had started playing football together for the Somerset Hills Bulldogs as younger children.

Devin Ray, a Bernards High 2013 graduate who was the Mountaineers' quarterback during last year's season, when they won the mid-state 38 conference—Union division champtionship also is on the Rutgers football roster, according to information at media day.
