IN SHORT
An unearned run in the first put Ridge behind 1-0 until the fourth inning when Andrew Graziano and Brett Matzen each had RBI singles. Ridge scored again in the fifth when Greg Fazio ripped an RBI double to left and later scored on a Justin Lazo RBI single.
RED DEVIL OF THE GAME
Greg Lauricella-Six innings pitched, one unearned run on four hits and four strikeouts.
Lauricella kept the Panthers off balance all day as he mixed his pitches and showed very good command. Lauricella only gave up two hits that went out of the infield which were two doubles by Bridgewater’s Andrew Lyman.
“He does a great job of mixing speeds, throwing strikes and keeping the ball down. He constantly keeps hitters on the defensive because he gets ahead of them and uses his great control of all three of his pitches.” — Head Coach Tom Blackwell
“He (Lauricella) did a good job by throwing strikes and getting out in front of us. He got a lot of our guys out on their front foot which led to a lot of our pop ups.”— Bridgwater head coach Max Newill
OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES
Brett Matzen-2-3 with a double and an RBI; Andrew Graziano-2-3 with an RBI single and a run scored; Greg Fazio-1-2 with an RBI double, a walk and a run scored.
THEY SAID IT
“It was a great ball game by both teams. It was very clean with a lot of very solid defense and pitching. Lauricella threw a great game for us and we played great defense behind him. We had a couple of clutch hits and it’s a good way to win ballgames.” — Blackwell
