Ridge Fans Cheer on Team as Red Devils Go for 6th Straight Win

This week's game is an away event in Plainfield on Saturday.

This year's undefeated Ridge Red Devils have been drawing overflow crowds, and last Friday's homecoming win over North Hunterdon High School had many special guests and a senior class with plenty of spirit mixed in with a solid fan base.

This week, the Red Devils will face Plainfield High School at an away game that begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

The team will arrive with a 5-0 record after last Friday's 34-0 defeat of Ridge High School.

The victory had even more meaning because along celebrating Homecoming Night, a number of special groups to attend the game, including members of the Class of 1967, which was celebrating its 45th reunion.

Tracy said the game was dedicated to longtime Ridge football in which many remembered Ridge's own version of a beloved coach.

"Tonight meant a lot to a lot of people," Tracy said after the game. He said Harry Bush's daughter, Laura, was at the game.

He said Ridge alumni athlete Stu Rickerson, class of '67, had stopped by to greet the team.

"What a fantastic night for homecoming!" said Jane Cullinan, a class of '67 alumni who had traveled from California.

"All of us in the class of '67 section were delighted for the RHS football team's win — and for the Homecoming court, too. The band looked and sounded terrific."

She added it was enjoyable to return to Ridge High School, built in 1950 as a much smaller version, and to see "the incredible improvements in facilities," along with the great athletic performance.

Cullinan thanked Ridge's athletic department for making an announcement about the class of '67 at halftime, and for noting the Ridge Alumni Memorial Scholarship launched by that class five years ago in memory of a classmate killed in Viet Nam.

"I hope current RHS students will revisit one day and have the same warm, nostalgic feelings we did," Cullinan said.
