The Ridge girls LAX team next will face Immaculate Heart Academy in the state NJSIAA playoffs.

The Ridge High School girls lacrosse team — which last week beat the Hillsbrough to win the Somerset County Tournament — moved ahead in the state NJSIAA playoffs with a decisive win over Watchung Hills on Tuesday night.

The game, played at Ridge, ended with a 17-4 victory for Ridge, continuing a string of victories in which the girls scored closed to 20 points in post-season wins over their opponents. The team now is 16-2 for the season.

Sam Brown, named MVP in the county tournament, had 3 goals and 5 assists in Tuesday's game, and is within one goal of breaking the 200-goal mark for her high school career. The Ridge school career record for girls lacrosse is 208.
