Ridge Girls' Senior Night is Win Over Bernards

Schumacher scores 20 to lead Ridge, while Bernards' Sarah Ryan logs 29 points as game's highest scorer.

The Ridge High School girls basketball team celebrated their senior athletes Friday night in a game against neighbors from Bernards High School. After a slow start by both teams, Ridge pulled together an outstanding 28-point third quarter to ice the game.

Although starting the second half down by seven points, the Ridge girls rallied for a great 3rd quarter, fueled by 10 points from Monica Schumacher and 5 points from Sam Mohan who went 5-6 from the free throw line.

"The first half we came out a little sluggish," said Ridge coach Eric Schroeder.  "The second half, we had some key steals and Monica Schumacher shot the ball well."

Bernard's sophmore Sarah Ryan scored a game high of 29 points. "She is a very good player," said Schroeder. "Our goal was to try to shut her out; she scored 29 points with double and triple teams."

"It was a great win," Schroeder added.  "I was happy for the seniors to get a win for their last home game."
