Ridge Girls Soccer Ties Franklin After Narrow Loss to Livingston

Red Devils prepare for Somerset County Tournament championship on Saturday.

After a tough battle Tuesday night, Ridge High School's girls varsity soccer lost 2-1 in overtime to Livingston High School, when then brough the team's season record to 12-3-3, according to information provided by Jessica Musemeci, the team's assistant coach.

Ridge broke the scoreless game with a 35-yard lofted shot by midfielder Gigi Cifelli, which sailed over Livingston goalie's head in the seventh minute of the second half. Livingston tied the game with less than a minute to go in regulation, sending the game into overtime. 

The Ridge girls fought hard during overtime, but fell to Livingston in the third minute of the second overtime period, after a cross from Livingston hit a Ridge defender and bounced into the goal.

Thursday game against Franklin, next is Somerset County Tournament

On Thursday, Ridge girls varsity soccer is now 12-3-4 after tying Franklin High School 2-2 in double overtime. That was the last regular season game.

However, the team goes on to face Montgomery in the final game of the Somerset County Tournament, now rescheduled for 5 p.m. on Saturday at Manville High School.
