With little more than two minutes left in the third quarter, the Ridge Red Devils had brought the score to 35-13 in Sunday's state championship game against the Unior Farmers, adding two touchdowns thanks to the duo of Ryan Bell and Conor Hughes.

The Red Devils surged ahead just moments before the end of the first half, with some deft maneuvers that bore the signs of years of teamwork. The half ended with Ridge leading 21-7.

However, that lead had been shaved to 21-13 by the third quarter at about 11:20 a.m.

Hughes scored for Ridge in the third — and passed to Bell for another TD in the third quarter.

Ridge's Thomas Ciriaco scored the game's first touchdown at 7:58 in first quarter.

The game was tied in the first half before Bell, hit with a pass from Conor Hughes, brought the game up to 14-7 for the Red Devils.

With the second quarter winding down, Ridge's Matt Soulas intercepted, and ran to the 22-yard line. A Hughes to Bell pass yielded another TD, with the first half ending shortly before 11 a.m., Ridge leading 21-7.
