Community Pep Rally Friday Night for Unbeaten Ridge Football

Entire community invited to pep rally and bonfire before Red Devils state championship game Sunday at Rutgers.

In order to rev up for this Sunday's unprecedented Ridge football state championship game at Rutgers Stadium, a pep rally for the entire Basking Ridge community has been scheduled for Friday night, followed by a bonfire.

The pep rally is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at the new gym at Ridge High School, 268 S. Finley Ave., Basking Ridge.

The pep rally will be followed by an outdoor bonfire. The event is scheduled to last until about 9 p.m.

The organizers say the pep rally is intended as an event for the entire Basking Ridge community "to make this a huge, outrageously spirited start to the championship weekend."

Ridge football fans who've followed their team through an unbeaten 11-0 season can head to Rutgers at 10 a.m. on Dec. 8 for the grand finale — the state final championship game against No. 2 Union for the Group 5, North 2 season championship.

This year's team has reached the state final after Nov. 22's semifinal victory over opponents Linden at home, which Ridge won 28-14 in front of an overflow crowd of local fans.
