Ridge Skiers Finish State Championships, Place High in League

Two-day event held on Monday and Tuesday.

Boys and girls' varsity ski teams for Ridge High School competed on Monday and Tuesday this week on Monday in the two-day state state finals with representatives from eight high schools around New Jersey, according to information from the Ridge team.

The boys team ended in first place for their league (Independence), and the girls placed second in the Independence League.

The girls placed third statewide, and the boys placed fifth in the state championship.

A slalom race on the first day of the two-day event was held on Monday afternoon at Hidden Valley Ski area in Vernon. The second day continued with giant slalom races at Mount Peter Ski Area in Warwick, N.Y., according to information from the Ridge ski team.

The team graduates seniors Courtney Lailey, Alissa McCarthy, Gina Taylor, Maddy Kapp, Nora Smith, Sandy Halbing and Adam Walker, Patch McGeough, Thomas McWilliams. Junior Daniele Colbertaldo, with some first place finishes, was injured mid-season but will be back next season.
