Ridge Wins Big at Patriot Stadium

Ridge High School's baseball team showed they were on a mission: win out the week and get a chance to play in "states."

It was beautiful night for baseball and Ridge put on a show. Ridge showed strength from the mound and at the dish taking Delaware Valley down 12-4.

Somerset Patriot Park was buzzing with action on the field and in the stands.  The stands were filled little league teams from Basking Ridge as part of a fund raiser for the organisation.  Hundreds of ballplayers, their coaches and their families surrounded the infield as part of the opening ceremonies.

Assistant coach Brian Hedgecock may have said it best: "It's a night game and with all the little league kids at the park having fun, our team having fun; it's just a great night."

Ridge starting Pitcher JB Kole held the Terriers to one run in the third through 4 innings of work.  "I felt good.  It took me an inning to settle down," Kole said. "My slider was on tonight and got me out of trouble when my fastball got a little wild."

Following the game, coach Tom Blackwell said, "We played pretty well. We pitched and we played great defense.  We had big hits in big spots, two-out RBI hits that made a difference.  Up and down the line up it was a great performance by everyone."

Ridge is looking to close out the week with a win at Phillipsburg today. A win will guarantee the team a spot in the state tournament.
