Ridge Wrestlers Begin Season

Red Devils fall to Hunterdon Central in opener.

The Ridge High School wrestling team began its season with a match against Hunterdon Central High School on Wednesday night by drawing appreciative fans despite a 47-21 loss.

The Ridge team presented this year's captains, senior Kolton Nelder and junior Ted Caruso.

Ridge coach Steve Hendershot said about 36 wrestlers are part of the team for this season.

After the match, the coach said that each year Hunterdon Central builds a good team and Wednesday's match provides an opportunity for wrestlers of where they can learn.

With winter vacation approaching, the next scheduled match for the varsity team is away against Bloomfield High School at 9 a.m. on Dec. 29, according to the Ridge wrestling webpage, which also lists the schedule for the JV wrestlers.
