Somerset County Relays Held at Ridge

Ridge, Bernards High and The Pingry School all compete; Ridge sets some school records.

The Pingry School, and Bernards High School were competitiors with eight other county schools in this past weekend's Somerset County Relays, held at Ridge in Bernards Township.

Among the finishes, Ridge's Sprint Medley team of Tyler Jurewicz, Connor Collins, Alex Schraer, and James Murphy set a school record of 3:41.3.

And Ridge's Andrew Claps added his school record triple jump of 41-0.5 to Connor Collins' leap to take home gold for Ridge.

On the girls' side, Ridge finished fourth, just 2 points ahead of fifth place Bernards. Pingry was eighth, according to information from the Ridge team.

The Bernards Distance Medley team of Laura Quintana, Brooke Savoye, Sydney Rudin, and Zoe Wojtech won their event in 12:41.2.

The Ridge girls won the 4x800 in a time of 9:48.2. That relay team consisted of Liz Newman, Sarah Spring, Shaye McCoy, and Chloe O'Malley.

The Ridge boys achieved a fifth place finish, led by wins in one track and two field events. Pingry was seventh, including a win in the Distance Medley, and Bernards finished in ninth place.

The Javelin throwers of Tim Livingston, Mike Furst, and David Singer combined for a winning measurement of 413-1.

Pingry's medley time of 11:06.7 was turned in by Liam Mullett, Andrew Benito, Justin LeAndre, and Cam Gensch.

Franklin, Montgomery and Hillsborough finished 1-2-3 in both the boys and girls team results.
